Athens pitcher David Jiménez did his part in helping his team beat the London Monarchs, 3-2. The right-hander kept opposing batters in check throughout the game. Jiménez went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 3, and struck out 2. His record improves to 6-8. Max Dawe earned the save for Athens, his 17th.
The Fighting Centaurs got an important contribution from third baseman Tomás Rodríguez, who in the top of the second punched a 1-2 changeup into left-center for a 2-run triple. It was his 2nd triple of the season and put the Fighting Centaurs ahead, 3-0.
Rodríguez called the triumph "a good team win."
The Fighting Centaurs go to 36-56 with the win.
