A good performance from center fielder Wasim Ala' helped the Sydney Sharks defeat the Sao Paulo Pilots, 6-5. Ala' was 2-3 with a home run, a double, and a walk for the Sharks. Carlos Rocha, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 19th save. Sydney, at 37-46, occupies 7th place in the GBC.

Harry S. Stamper III, who finished 4th in the GBC in extra base hits with 66 in 2054, helped out the Sydney cause in the top of the seventh inning with a run-scoring single. For the game, the second baseman went 1 for 4.

"We took advantage of our opportunities," Ala' told the Sydney Herald. "It's as simple as that."
