Monarchs Come Up Short at Sydney, 4-3
|
The London Monarchs and Sydney Sharks provided some drama for the home crowd.
Sydney picked up a win at Blacktown International Sportspark, bumping off the London Monarchs, 4-3. Pitcher Jerry Bourque was a major reason the Sharks emerged victorious. Bourque yielded 1 run over 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. His record improves to 1-1.
The Sharks got a big at-bat from first baseman Naoaki Kurioka. For the game, Kurioka went 1 for 4 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the first, with runners on 1st and 2nd, he stroked a 3-run home run. His 11th home run of the season gave Sydney a 3-0 lead.
"That was a really good outing by Jerry," said Sydney manager Jim Sánchez.
The Sydney win streak is now 3 games.
