Pilots Nip Pearls, 4-3
|
The Sao Paulo Pilots overcame a good performance by Tokyo first baseman Odemar Lock to knock off Tokyo, 4-3, at Ballpark of Bucharest. Lock was 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 2 and driving in 2. Sao Paulo reliever Iván Ruíz picked up the win, upping his record to 4-1. Filippio Ioriatti absorbed the loss. Sao Paulo has now won 3 in a row.
Wan-ling Koo was the walk-off hero for Sao Paulo. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Pilots left fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Koo. "And not try to do too much."
