London Bats Go Silent in 6-0 Loss
|
Athens Fighting Centaurs pitcher Teinosuke Komatsu was in fine form, leading his team past the London Monarchs, 6-0. Komatsu, the winner, moves to 3-6. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 3 walks. By defeating London, the 4th-place Fighting Centaurs improved to 21-28.
Ed Leyte had a big 3-run home run for the Fighting Centaurs in the bottom of the second inning. With Athens leading 1-0 and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he sized up a curveball from 29-year old right-handed pitcher Ron McLeish and punished it. The result was his 3rd home run of the season, which put the Fighting Centaurs on top, 4-0.
"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager Jack Gulliver.
