The Portland Lumberjacks overcame a good performance by Sacramento first baseman Unem Ploid to knock off Sacramento, 4-3, at The Trail in Multnomah. Ploid went 3 for 4 with 3 singles and a walk. Portland's record now stands at 59-91, placing them last in the Frick League Pacific Division.

The Mad Popes had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Lumberjacks going into the bottom of the second inning. That changed quickly when the 11-year veteran Carlos Flores came to the plate. Flores hit a 2-run home run on a 3-1 fastball from Sacramento hurler Glenn Walker. It was Flores's 9th home run of the year.

"Both teams played hard," said Portland manager Mons Raider.
