River Monsters Lose to Kernels in Walk Off
The Des Moines Kernels scored a tight 2-1 win versus the Twin Cities River Monsters at Edward Murphy Memorial Stadium. Des Moines pitcher Alonso Amaya held his own in the contest. Des Moines is now 72-77.

Motoshige Saito was the walk-off hero for Des Moines. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Kernels pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"That's baseball," said Twin Cities manager Gerald Brandt. "Sometimes the other team plays better than yours."
