Pharaohs Need Extra Innings to Top Pearls, 6-5
|
Behind a solid performance from catcher Dave Butler, the Cairo Pharaohs defeated the Tokyo Pearls, 6-5. Butler was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2 for the Pharaohs. The second-place Pharaohs raised their record to 28-20.
The game was still up for grabs in the bottom of the tenth. With no one out, Butler hit a fastball from Fassil Maundu for a solo home run. The Pharaohs, in dramatic fashion, had a walk-off win.
"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Cairo manager Stan Hampton.
