Spuds Shut Out Pikemen, 2-0
|
Boise starter Doug Eckhoff put a stranglehold on the Rockville offense. The right-hander had complete command of his forkball in leading the Spuds to a 2-0 win. The winning pitcher was Eckhoff, now 9-2. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 3. Boise, now 40-34, holds down 4th place in the Johnson League Frontier Division.
Alfonso Rúbio swatted a solo home run for Boise in the bottom of the sixth. The designated hitter went 2 for 4 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 1 run and batted in 1.
"Not too many highlights on our side," said losing manager Francisco Catazara.
