The Tokyo Pearls topped the Sao Paulo Pilots, 2-0, in Global Baseball Consortium action at Manama Fields. The game was highlighted by the performance of Tokyo pitcher Tommy Boele. Gary Powers was credited with the save for Tokyo, his 11th of the season. The win gives Tokyo a season record of 17-16.
Adel bin Husam al Din, who finished 5th in the GBC in home runs with 34 in 2052, aided the Tokyo cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the first. For the game, the designated hitter went 1-3 with a walk.
"We'll pop the top on a cold beverage and get back to work tomorrow," Boele said.
