Black Sox Beat Nine, 4-1
|
The Chicago Black Sox scooped up a win at Vinnie Vitale Stadium, dumping the Yellow Springs Nine, 4-1. Adam Hines, who finished 4th in the FL in strikeouts with 160 in 2059, was essential to his team's success. Hines, now 2-0, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Chicago has a record of 3-4.
Chicago went in front, 3-1, on Ángel De La Cruz's 1st home run of the season. The solo home run, which De La Cruz hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Yellow Springs pitcher Rolf Reinhardt visibly perturbed.
"It's nice to deliver when your team's counting on you," said De La Cruz.
