Minnesota Playoff Hopes Officially Zero

There might have been some flickers of hopes of a playoff berth at some point during the season, but those flickers have been snuffed out. The Minnesota Twins were officially eliminated from playoff contention today.
This is the club's 4th playoff miss in a row. They last appeared in the postseason in 2171. In total, the Twins have missed the playoffs 208 times in their 275-year history. In the last 10 seasons, the Twins have missed the playoffs 5 times. Minnesota has won the World Series 7 times in their history.

Frank Hampton Will Miss 4 Months

"It was a freak thing," said a dejected Frank Hampton after injuring himself in a game against Arizona. The Washington manager told reporters that he's expected to miss up to 4 months with a concussion. The Nationals are expected to announce a roster move in the next day or two.
At present, Hampton is batting .272 with 92 hits and 12 home runs. He has knocked in 41 runs and scored 32 times.

Langlet and Collazo Suspended, Out 4 Games

There was a heated confrontation yesterday at Fenway Park between the Red Sox and Blue Jays that resulted in ejections and suspensions. Yohan Langlet of Boston and Júlio Collazo of Toronto were issued 4-game suspensions by the league office for initiating the on-field disturbance.
Langlet is hitting .250 this year with 7 home runs and 24 RBIs. He also has an OBP of .289, 9 walks and scored 27 times.
Currently Collazo has 29 relief appearances, saving 0. His record is 3-0 with 43 strikeouts in 62.2 innings and a 5.17 ERA.
