Cardinals Knock Off Padres, 9-1

The San Diego Padres had their hands full with St. Louis Cardinals starter Frank Edlefse, who frustrated San Diego hitters while leading St. Louis to a comfortable, 9-1 win. In 6.1 innings, Edlefse surrendered 4 hits, while striking out 2 and walking 2. He allowed 1 run. Picking up the save was 27-year old right-handed pitcher Roy Smith.
St. Louis used the clutch hitting of Cade Territt to capture the win. The center fielder drilled a 2-run double in the top of the ninth inning to give the Cardinals the lead, 4-1. For the game, Territt had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Territt told the St. Louis Daily News.
The loss has the Padres at 11-20.
