Seattle starter Tom Leovich put a stranglehold on the Chicago offense. The right-hander had complete command of his curveball in leading the Mariners to a 4-0 win. With the loss, Chicago drops to 15-16.

Seattle used a well-timed hit by Gilberto Velásquez to capture the win. The designated hitter socked a 2-run double in the top of the third inning to put the Mariners ahead, 3-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.

"It was our day today," Velásquez told the Seattle Today. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
