Nationals Lose, 3-1, to San Diego
|
San Diego and Washington played a hard-fought contest.
The San Diego Padres got a magnificent performance from pitcher Jermaine May, who muffled the Washington offense en route to a tight, 3-1 Padres win at Nationals Park. May, the winner, moves to 1-3. He threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 4 walks.
Brody Smith had a critical at-bat with one out in the top of the sixth for San Diego. He came through with a 2-run home run to put San Diego in front, 3-0.
"Jermaine is tough when he's hitting his spots," said San Diego manager Ryan Schwep.
With the win, San Diego goes to 11-15.
