On Road, Philadelphia Drops Los Angeles, 7-6
|
Philadelphia Phillies starter Richard Ortega pitched a strong game against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Dodger Stadium, leading the Phillies to victory, 7-6. Pat Davis, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed 2 runs on 3 hits. The defeat makes Los Angeles 10-11.
Jeroen van der Born drove in one run for Philadelphia. The 21-year veteran had a key at-bat in the top of the ninth. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 6-6 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Sandro Pérez. It was his 3rd RBI of the season.
"Say want you want about this team, they play nine innings hard," said Philadelphia manager John Stringer.
