Guardians Get Past Toronto for 8-7 Win
The Cleveland Guardians topped the Toronto Blue Jays, 8-7, at Cleveland Fairgrounds. Cleveland designated hitter Ken'ichi Tada was a spark plug for the offense. He went 4 for 5 with 2 home runs and 2 singles, while scoring 3 and driving in 4. Cleveland reliever Carlos Cortéz picked up the win, upping his record to 2-1. John Talley was saddled with the loss. Toronto is 6-5 after the defeat.

The Guardians were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth inning, when 25-year old second baseman Dan O'Dell landed a big blow. He turned a first pitch fastball from John Talley into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent the Cleveland Fairgrounds denizens into a frenzy and sent the Guardians home with a thrilling 8-7 win.
