The Cleveland Guardians rode a solid performance from 21-year-old starting pitcher Lou Boyer to a win, beating the Boston Red Sox, 8-2, at Cleveland Fairgrounds. The Guardians are now 68-94.

Jermaine Dege hit a run-scoring double off Mark Wallace in the bottom of the third, which put the Guardians in front, 1-0. In addition to the double, Dege had 2 singles, while going 3 for 5.
