Chicago Drops New York, 3-2
|
The Chicago Cubs managed to get by the New York Mets, 3-2, at Citi Field. Chicago pitcher Stephen Sanders set himself apart with his performance. Sanders yielded 1 run over 5 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 7-4. Michael Truell sewed up the save, his 9th.
Chicago used the hitting of Judd Krause to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put the Cubs on top, 2-1. For the game, Krause had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"Tough loss," said New York manager Con NineEight. "But that's how the cookie crumbles."
The losing streak for New York has now reached 4 games.
