Baseball fans saw a good contest between the New York Mets and Atlanta Braves.
The New York Mets got a magnificent effort from pitcher Ching Lang, who kept Atlanta hitters in check en route to a 3-1 Mets win at Turner Field. Lang picked up the win for New York, going 5.1 innings. He gave up no runs on 1 hits. He now sports a record of 1-1. Donovan George earned the save for New York, his 20th of the year.
José Flores, the New York left fielder, contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to make the score 2-0, Mets. For the game, Flores was 4 for 5 with 4 singles.
"I found a nice groove out there," said Lang.
The Mets go to 67-84, putting them last in the American League Powell.
