Rangers Upend Royals, 5-3
|
The Texas Rangers defeated the Kansas City Royals by the score of 5-3, with the biggest share of the credit going to right fielder Trent Parker. Parker went 1 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks, while scoring 2 times and driving in 3 for the Rangers on the day. Allen Patterson, who finished 2nd in the NL in ERA with 2.63 in 2170, was the winning pitcher. Over 6 innings, he allowed 1 run on 4 hits, with 2 walks and 3 strikeouts. Earning the save was Will Schock. He's now cashed in 15 of 22 save opportunities.
Parker had a big hit for Texas with one out in the bottom of the fifth. With Texas leading 2-1, Parker hit a 3-run home run. It was his 28th home run of the season and put the Rangers up, 5-1.
"I just try to go out and give it 100 percent every game," Parker told a local reporter after the game. "That's my mantra, and like today, it will pay off more often than not."
Texas is now 77-70.
