Rangers Polish Off White Sox, 14-2
|
The exploits of designated hitter Bailey Crocker, who is tied for 7th in the AL in doubles with 18, helped the Texas Rangers defeat the Chicago White Sox, 14-2. Crocker was 3 for 3 with a home run, a double, and 2 walks, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 3. Jon Richardson, the winner, improved to 7-2. He held the White Sox to 2 runs on 5 hits over 8 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 0. Texas is third in the American League Meyer with a record of 37-34.
Jerry Benton had a big 2-run double for the Rangers in the bottom of the second inning. With Texas leading 3-2 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a sinker from Joe Bullock, who is tied for 2nd in the AL in complete games with 1, and swatted a double to right-center. It was his 10th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Rangers ahead, 5-2.
"It was a tough day, no getting around it," said losing manager Ken Welsch.
