Ira Hodge was a major factor in the 7-4 Detroit win over Anaheim. The Tigers third baseman went 2 for 4 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. The win was credited to 40-year old right-handed pitcher Yannick Capasso in relief. His record improves to 4-3. Ted Fla took the loss. Hodge contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Detroit in the bottom of the second. With his team trailing 1-0, Hodge took a circle change from Dave Jamison and stroked the home run to right-center. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Tigers to leap in front, 3-1.
