The Milwaukee Brewers got a marvelous performance from pitcher Steve Smith. The right-hander kept the Tampa Bay offense from ever getting much traction. The result was an impressive 3-2 Milwaukee victory at Tropicana Field. Smith, the winner, moves to 6-4. He threw 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 2 walks. Milwaukee currently is in second place in the American League Cortes at 33-33.

Ronald Jones, who finished 5th in the AL in triples with 5 last year, had a direct impact on the outcome. Jones contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the fifth inning to put Milwaukee up, 1-0.

"I was a little disappointed," said Tampa Bay manager Brox Bombers. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
