Red Sox Pick Up 1-0 Win Against Cleveland
|
The Boston Red Sox picked up a win at Fenway Park, taking down the Cleveland Guardians, 1-0. Starting pitcher Bobby Hartley was a big reason why. Hartley, now 7-1, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 3, walking 0, and allowing no runs. Boston improves to 37-23 with the win. They lead their division by 2½ games.
Josh Thompstone came through for Boston when he hit a run-scoring single in the bottom of the fifth. With a runner on 2nd, he hit a 1-2 splitter to right field, staking his team to a 1-0 lead.
"It wasn't easy, but we got it done," said Thompstone.
