Royals Bell Gets No-Hitter
|
In a dominant outing, Howard Bell of the Kansas City Royals totally silenced the bats of the San Diego Padres, finishing with a no-hitter.
In the 1-0 victory, Bell faced only 29 batters, surrendered no hits, had 7 strikeouts and 2 walks.
"Honestly, I didn't even know the situation was what it was until the seventh inning," Kansas City manager Danny Espinosa said. "I happened to look up there to see how many hits we had gotten, and I happened to notice that they hadn't gotten any."
Commenting on the defeat, losing manager Ryan Schwep had a "pretty simple" analysis of the game.
"The Royals had all the hits and all the runs, so they won," he snapped. "But yeah, Bell pitched a heck of a ballgame."
In 11 starts this season, Bell has rung up a 7-2 record and a 2.31 ERA.
