Red Sox Win, 4-1, Versus Blue Jays
|
Boston pitcher Bobby Hartley did his part in helping his team defeat the Toronto Blue Jays, 4-1. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. Hartley, now 5-1, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 1 hit, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. Tom Warren closed the game out for Boston, earning his 8th save.
Don Lowery, who finished 4th in the AL in extra base hits with 73 last year, took Toronto hurler Dudley Parker deep in the bottom of the first. His 2-run home run put the Red Sox on top, 2-0. In all, Lowery had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
In postgame remarks, Lowery hailed his team's "grit."
The Red Sox move to 25-20 with the win, while the Blue Jays drop to 22-22.
