The Miami Marlins defeated the Anaheim Angels, 16-5, in part because of designated hitter Cristo Blanca. Blanca was 4 for 6 with 2 home runs and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 4 for the Marlins. Miami currently is in first place in the National League Segura at 23-19.

Miami used a well-timed hit by Ernest Rutherford to capture the win. The right fielder socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Marlins ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 2 at-bats, it was important.

"Good win for us," said Blanca. "Now we'll focus on the next one."
