The Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Yankees obliged fans hoping for an exciting game.

The Pittsburgh Pirates picked up a win at Three Rivers Stadium, downing the New York Yankees, 8-7. On the mound for Pittsburgh was right-hander António Valenzuela, who played a pivotal role in the win. The win puts the Pirates at 17-22, while the Yankees drop to 14-23.

Dan Larkin was vital to the Pittsburgh win. He went 3 for 5 with a double and 2 singles, while adding 4 RBI. In the bottom of the sixth with two out, Larkin hit a 2-run single. It made the score 7-1, in favor of the Pirates.

"António did a really nice job of taking the ball and giving us a chance to win the game," said Pittsburgh manager John Krobot.
