Blue Jays Get Dramatic 6-5 Triumph
Vancouver second baseman Rick Montgomery was sensational. He was 1-2 with a home run and 2 walks, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once, but it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. Toronto beat the Vandals, 6-5. The winner was Toronto reliever Dave Alward, now 2-0. The loser was Damon Brock. The Vandals, at 18-18, have lost 5 in a row.

The Blue Jays were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when right fielder Kiyohisa Matsumoto turned a 0-2 sinker from Damon Brock into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent a roar through the crowd and gave Toronto a thrilling 6-5 win.

"I play this game for myself and my family, but of course it's always nice when we can win," said Matsumoto.
