 | Virgil Shafer Winner in August Saturday, September 1st, 2046 Virgil Shafer said he hopes everyone remembers his performance in August if he ends up struggling this year. His performance certainly was memorable, as the 31-year-old Tripoli Piranhas right fielder was a step ahead all other Bancroft League hitters and was named Batter of the Month. On the month, he hit .374 with 11 home runs, 20 RBIs and 21 runs scored. This year Shafer has collected a .278 batting average to date with 131 hits in 472 at-bats, 87 RBIs, 30 home runs and scored 78 times. He has played in 131 games. |   |
