Hemming, Smith Swap Teams Monday, August 26th , 2058 Vancouver and San Fernando made a trade today. In this move, the Mounties shipped 32-year old minor league LF Martin Hemming, 37-year old 1B Pancho Costa, 18-year old minor league RHP Jake Beers, and 20-year old minor league 1B Pedro Carmona to the Bears for 39-year old LF Jeffrey Smith. The Vancouver GM told reporters, "I think this trade is beneficial to everyone involved, including the players." Vancouver will retain a portion of Costa's remaining contract. San Fernando will retain a portion of Smith's remaining contract. So far this season Hemming is batting .270 with 7 home runs, 29 RBIs and 39 runs scored. He has 91 hits in 337 at-bats, 17 walks and a .303 OBP. Hemming has played in 95 games. This year Smith is batting .308 with 27 home runs and 83 RBIs. In 124 games he has scored 64 times. |
