Tuesday, September 4th , 2057
Madison's Manobu Shimizu got the standing ovation -- but the San Fernando Bears got the win.
It was a special day for him at Shotz Stadium. A day when Shimizu notched hit #3000 of his career. The fans went wild when he did. Even the Bears fans applauded.
The Wolves first baseman went 2-for-5 in a losing cause as San Fernando spoiled the party with the 8-5 victory.
In the postgame interview, a downhearted Shimizu told the media, "We lost -- It's not about individual accomplishments -- we lost."
When pressed further, he admitted his pride in reaching the 3000-hit mark, "A lot of great players never get there. I'm proud, but I would be happier if we had won."
During his career, Shimizu has compiled a .344 batting average and collected 3001 hits, 434 home runs and 1688 RBIs.
