Childress's Season Could be Over Thursday, August 1st , 2047
The doctors have spoken and Rick Childress of the Vancouver Mounties didn't like what he heard. The 21-year-old starting pitcher is almost certainly gone for the rest of the year and depending on his progress could miss some of next season as well. Childress sustained his season-ending injury during the Valencia Stars game yesterday at Dunn Field. He had to leave the game because he hurt himself while throwing a pitch. Today the Vancouver medical staff reported Childress had a torn rotator cuff and would be absent from the lineup for at least 13 months.
Thus far this season, Childress has worked 128.2 innings with 124 strikeouts en route to a 9-5 record and a 3.71 ERA.
