Mad Popes End González's Streak
Wednesday, July 25th, 2046
It was the best of both worlds for the Sacramento Mad Popes today at Chico's Bail Bonds Field, as they defeated the San Fernando Bears 2-1 and also snapped Ángel González's 20-game hitting streak. The 26-year-old San Fernando right fielder failed to get a hit in 4 at-bats.

"Nothing personal against González, we just wanted to win the game," said Mad Popes skipper Bill Inkster. "We did a great job keeping him off-balance and guessing."

When asked by reporters about his streak coming to an end, González frowned and said, "I won't lie and say that I'm not disappointed about it, but I'd feel much better if we had won."

This year González has batted at a .326 pace with 143 hits, 20 home runs, 64 RBIs and scored 82 times.
