 | Yokoyama Gets 5 Hits Friday, June 22nd, 2046 Des Moines right fielder Norihisa Yokoyama went down swinging at Dunn Field today, knocking out 5 hits even as his Kernels fell, 5-4. "It was like I was hitting Little League pitching," Yokoyama said after his 5-for-6 performance against the Valencia Stars. "No offense meant to Valencia, but it was like I was back in little league again -- I could see the ball that well." After the game, his manager elaborated on the right fielder's improvements, saying Yokoyama spent the offseason trying to shorten his swing and stay inside the ball. "That's what I'm trying to do," Yokoyama agreed. "Be quick to the ball and let it travel a little farther so I get a better look at it." Norihisa Yokoyama singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th, walked in the 9th, flied out in the 11th and singled in the 14th.
