 | Valencia Halts Gutiérrez's Hitting Steak Saturday, April 12th, 2042 Louisville third baseman Rafael Gutiérrez went 0-for-4 today in Louisville's 2-1 triumph over the Valencia Stars, snapping his 20-game hitting streak. Gutiérrez spoke to BNN after the game and said he "knew the hitting streak would end sooner or later." "I just would have preferred later," he said with a laugh. "It was fun though." When Gutiérrez made an out in his last chance at the plate, his teammates congratulated him in the dugout. In the clubhouse after the game, he seemed unbothered by the streak ending. "There's nothing scientific about it, that's for sure," Stars manager Anthony Light said of Gutiérrez's streak. "He had a nice little run. Let him start another one when we finish the series here." So far this year, Gutiérrez is batting .463 with no home runs and 10 RBIs. |   |
