Mounties Knock Off Lumberjacks, 2-0
|
In a low-scoring clash between Vancouver and Portland, pitcher Phil Cole was a difference-maker. The right-hander earned accolades in the 2-0 win. Xuan Ngo closed the game out for Vancouver, earning his 36th save. Vancouver is now 72-64.
Davenport Hinkle, who is a five-time All-Star, contributed to the Vancouver win with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the catcher had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 run batted in.
"I've been criticized for being a slacker, but the one thing I do care about is winning," Cole told the Vancouver Citizen.
