Skidding Tropics Lose 8th Straight
The Hawaii Tropics got a sterling performance from pitcher Utbah bin Muta, but the San Fernando Bears still prevailed, 8-4. bin Muta threw 6.0 innings of 1-hit ball. The 6th-place Bears improved to 65-70.

San Fernando used the timely hitting of Kensaku Kato to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Bears on top, 4-3. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"This losing is getting old," said Hawaii manager Rich Kerr.
