Bears Secure 8-4 Win
|
The San Fernando Bears finished off the Madison Wolves, 8-4. Much of the credit belonged to third baseman Yuu Suzuki. Suzuki went 3-5 with 3 singles, while scoring 2 runs for the Bears. Rick Marriott, the winning pitcher, improved to 4-2. He pitched 6.2 innings, giving up 7 hits and 4 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 2. Abban Layar picked up his 1st save of the season.
Keith Tims, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 2058 draft, came through for San Fernando with a 2-run home run in the top of the second. The left fielder went 2 for 5 for the game, including 1 home run and 1 double. He scored 2 runs and collected 2 RBI.
"You can never predict what'll happen," Tims said. "That's why you play the game."
San Fernando, at 29-25, sits in 4th place in the Frick League Pacific Division.
