Bears Turn Back Wolves, 4-3
|
The San Fernando Bears beat the Madison Wolves, 4-3. San Fernando pitcher and Munakata, Japan, native Sakutaro Kawano led the way. Bryan Longstaff closed the door for San Fernando, picking up his 16th save of the year. San Fernando, at 28-23, sits in 4th place in the Frick League Pacific Division.
Yuu Suzuki was 1 for 3 for San Fernando. With no one out and the game tied in the top of the seventh inning, Suzuki, who finished 2nd in the FL in hits with 225 in 2058, had a clutch at-bat. Facing Madison hurler Johnny Lovell, he hit a sacrifice fly to give the Bears a 4-3 lead.
"We try to keep the mood light around here," said Suzuki. "Winning helps."
