Stars Grind Out 2-1 Win
|
The Valencia Stars had to overcome a good performance from Vancouver pitcher Stephen Clulow, Jr. to claim a 2-1 win at Dunn Field. Clulow, Jr. went 6.1 innings and allowed 2 runs. Luis Pérez notched his 8th save of the season. Now 5-25, the 2061 Mounties have been dreadful.
With scoring opportunities rare, the Stars had to cash in when they had the chance. One such opportunity presented itself in the bottom of the third, when second baseman Miller Shed hit a run-scoring single. The single came off Stephen Clulow, Jr. and made the score 2-0, Stars. Shed went 2-4 with 2 singles.
Shed called the win a testament to his team's "tenacity."
