Bears Get Past Portland for 4-3 Win
|
The Portland Lumberjacks got a superb performance from pitcher Manuel Camacho. Still, it wasn't enough to beat San Fernando. The Bears won the game, 4-3. Camacho threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball. San Fernando reliever Rolf Reinhardt picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Renato Lacerda took the loss. Getting the save was Jim Achbar, his 7th.
The game was at a stalemate until second baseman Dick Walton came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Portland pitcher Renato Lacerda, he hit a full count fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting San Fernando on top, 4-3.
"I'll probably toss and turn tonight," Portland manager Mons Raider said following the tough loss.
Portland, at 9-21, is off to a poor start in 2058.
