Surfers Blown Out by Mad Popes
|
The Sacramento Mad Popes put together a convincing win at Vito Costantino Memorial Stadium, defeating the Long Beach Surfers, 15-3. Yuu Suzuki was one of the hitting stars. He was 2-3 with 2 singles and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once for Sacramento. Lance Harrison got the win, improving to 2-3. He worked 6.1 innings, giving up 3 runs on 5 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 3. Ludwig Werberg collected save number 2.
Sacramento used a well-timed hit by Juan Vera to capture the win. The third baseman socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the second inning to put the Mad Popes ahead, 5-2. Though it was his only hit in 6 at-bats, it was important.
"Nice to score a bunch of runs," said Vera after the game.
The loss puts Long Beach at 15-15.
