Getting offensive support from Roberto Rivera, the San Fernando Bears topped the Portland Lumberjacks, 7-5. Rivera went 1 for 4 with a walk. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Bears. Jim Achbar nailed down his 6th save. The Lumberjacks are now 9-20.

San Fernando got the win thanks to a clutch hit from Clinton Tyler. The catcher stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put the Bears ahead, 6-5. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it had a major impact on the outcome.

In postgame comments to the San Fernando Chronicle, Tyler said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
