Mounties Shut Out Stars, 2-0

Vancouver got a strong outing from Tom Miller as the Mounties defeated the Valencia Stars, 2-0, at Dunn Field. Miller got the win, improving to 1-3. He gave up 2 hits and walked 1 over 5.2 innings. He allowed no runs. Jesús García, who led the FL in saves with 43 last year, nailed down the save.
Vancouver used a clutch at-bat from Vance Cooper to capture the win. The third baseman hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Mounties ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"Tom's a gamer," said Vancouver manager Stafford Carter. "Glad he's on our side."
The Stars, now 15-14, have been consistent this season. Consistently bad.
