Hurricanes Stymie Montreal, Take 5-1 Win
|
The Jacksonville Hurricanes got a stellar performance from pitcher Hayden Bennion, who handcuffed the Montreal offense en route to a win, 5-1, at Ubisoft Field. Bennion got the win, improving to 1-2. He allowed 5 hits and walked 4 over 7.1 innings. Bennion allowed 1 run. Montreal falls to 13-8.
Jacksonville relied on the hitting of Daniel Pepper to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the first inning to put the Hurricanes on top, 3-0. For the game, Pepper had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
Pepper expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
