The Louisville Sluggers took Des Moines pitcher Dave Lachance's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Kentucky Truck Plant Stadium. The final score had Louisville getting past the Kernels, 5-4. Lachance went 5 innings and allowed 1 run, striking out 8. Louisville reliever Alberto Romero picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Garth Dobbs took the loss. The win puts Louisville at 10-7.

The Sluggers were down to their final out when third baseman Mal Fountain turned a 2-2 changeup from Jeff Doane into a bases-clearing double. The walk-off double made the Kentucky Truck Plant Stadium crowd go wild.

"This place was rocking at the end," Fountain said.
