Mad Popes Rally Past Sluggers to Claim 1-0 Series Lead
The Sacramento Mad Popes powered past the visiting Louisville Sluggers, 6-5, in the opener of the Doubleday Series at The Basilica at Muskrat Slough today. Sacramento designated hitter Unem Ploid went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 2 times, to lead the charge. The Mad Popes now lead the series 1-0.

Todd Rice was the walk-off hero for Sacramento. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Mad Popes left fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.

"Winning in the last at-bat, there's nothing else like it," said Rice.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at The Basilica at Muskrat Slough in Sacramento.
