|
In a low-scoring contest, Boise pitcher Danny Leach was marvelous in his team's 3-1 win. Leach, now 1-3, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 3 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing no runs. Mario Santos was credited with the save for Boise, his 13th of the season.
The Outlaws had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Spuds going into the bottom of the second inning. That changed quickly when the 31-year old second baseman Marcello Custello came to the plate. Custello hit a 2-run home run on a 0-1 fastball from San Antonio hurler Gannon Steele. It was Custello's 16th home run of the year.
"Tough loss," said San Antonio manager Mika'il bin Samman. "But we'll learn from it."
The 5th-place Spuds raised their record to 57-56.
