DeWaldo, Jr. Leads Mad Popes to Win
|
The Sacramento Mad Popes defeated the Valencia Stars, 8-6, in part because of catcher Ralph DeWaldo, Jr.. DeWaldo, Jr. was 3-5 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 5 for the Mad Popes. Fernando Rodríguez closed it out for Sacramento, earning his 2nd save. The first-place Mad Popes go to 70-38.
In the top of the seventh, the Mad Popes grabbed the lead when DeWaldo, Jr. hit his 3rd home run of the season. The grand slam home run off Lindsay Barber made it 8-5, Sacramento.
"We're not really clicking on anything right now," said Valencia manager Omar Sosa.
