Bears Sneak By Wolves, 2-1
|
San Fernando starter Arnold Cantrell had a strong outing against the Madison Wolves at Chico's Bail Bonds Field. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 2-1 win. Cantrell, now 8-9, was the winner. In 8.1 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 2, and allowing 1 run. The save went to Jim Achbar, his 13th this season.
The Bears got a big boost from first baseman Michael Schultz who had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth inning off Wolves hurler Chris Stout. It was his 75th RBI of the season and put San Fernando on top, 2-1.
"I'm proud to wear a San Fernando jersey," Schultz told the San Fernando Chronicle. "We played a good game and came out with the win. What more can you ask for?"
At 51-50, the Bears are currently 5th in the Frick League Pacific Division.
